Rothmans Sim -History
Rothmans Racing was founded by Scott Beck in 1996. From his small hometown of Sunland California he formed a team that would go on to last for 20 years, and is still going strong heading into the new season. Rothmans started out using the PC racing sim named GP2. Using today’s standards, GP2 was just the bare basics. But at the time it was like nothing we’d ever seen before.
Over the years racing sims have evolved to what we have today and Rothmans Racing has come right along with them.

 Team Owner Scott Beck

From 1996 to 2007, all aspects of the team were run by Scott Beck alone. Then in early 2008, Chris Griffin contacted Scott about joining the team. After just a few minutes of talking to Chris G, Scott knew he had to have him join Rothmans. He could see that Chris G was a natural leader and his knowledge about car setups was second to none. Chris G was the Rothmans Team Manager and IT specialist. Chris G basically ran the day to day business concerning the team, as well as driving in SimCar. Scott also has his long time friend Chris Phillips on the team as a consultant. Scott and Chris P spend countless hours discussing team strategies and various other aspects of sim racing.
Before the 2009 season started, Danny Roberts had the idea of trying to pickup some sponsorship for the team. He told Scott about his idea and was given the go ahead to pursue it. He contacted Natural Point, (TrackIR) and ButtKicker. After explaining our operation with sim racing to both companies, they decided to come on board. All of the GPO Rothmans cars had both companies logo’s on them. Scott recently picked up another sponsor, LiveRacers. Steve Zilik runs LiveRacers and provides a live timing program that Rothmans uses for live timing.
Before the start of the 2013 season, Rothmans Racing has restructured the complete operation. Gone are Natural Point, ButtKicker and Chris G. The team has moved from Simcar, FSR and GPO to race with GoneBrokeRacing (GBR) and Championship Motorsports (CMS) for the 2016 season.

Rothmans Racing has a long history in sim racing and has no plans of stopping anytime soon. With the current drivers we have now, Rothmans is as strong as it’s ever been.
